A fire can break out at any time with little or no warning. The more prepared you and your family are, the safer your will be.
· Our schools emergency drills include emergency evacuation routes in the event of fire or other dangerous events. We also include a secondary exit route in the event our primary route is blocked. Don’t forget it is important for your family to have emergency evacuation routes planned at home in the event of an emergency.
· Once you evacuate a home due to a fire remember to never return inside a burning building. Once out stay out. Firefighters will rescue anyone who needs help. Be sure to include a meet-ing location for all family members to assemble once you have made it out safely.
· Smoke detectors should be located in every floor of your home and near every bedroom of your home. Smoke detector batteries should be changed twice a year. A great time to remember to change the batteries is when the time changes in the fall and spring.
Talk with your family about your plans for an emergency. Remember the best time to develop plans is before they are needed. This will provide the greatest opportunity for success.
